Arvind Rajagopal is a Professor in the Department of Media, Culture and Communication, and affiliate faculty in the Departments of Sociology, and Social and Cultural Analysis, at NYU. He is editor and author, respectively, of The Indian Public Sphere (Oxford, 2009), and Politics After Television (Cambridge, 2001). The latter won the Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy Prize from the Association of Asian Studies in 2003. He is currently completing a volume on postcolonial political culture, and will be in residence at the Center for Advanced Study at Stanford for 2010-11. He was won awards from the MacArthur and Rockefeller Foundations, and has also been a Member in the School of Social Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. In addition to his scholarly writing, Arvind has also published in popular forums such as opendemocracy.net, and the SSRC’s Immanent Frame, and in newspapers and periodicals such as The Hindu, India Today, Outlook, Frontline, Gentleman, Time Out Mumbai, and the Times of India.
